Conversion upload troubleshooting

Start at Conversions sent for the platform, read the status and error, then check click ID, consent, value mode, OAuth, and order status mapping.

Steps

  1. Open the platform log. Google Ads → Conversions sent (/app/google-ads/conversions). Meta/TikTok have parallel Conversions pages. Also check Orders → Conversions column.
  2. Read status + message. sent / pending are healthy. skipped needs a reason (no click ID, consent, zero value, disabled routing). failed may retry; retracted / adjusted mean refund flows ran.
  3. Confirm click ID & routing. Google needs gclid, gbraid, or wbraid on the order. Confirm profit routing is enabled for that store and the conversion action is still ENABLED + UPLOAD_CLICKS.
  4. Check consent & value. Skipped for consent_denied or marketing consent denied → fix CMP or store fallback. zero_value → COGS/fallback made profit ≤ 0 or value mode issue.
  5. Re-auth if API errors persist. Reconnect Google / Meta if tokens expired. After max Google retries you may see “Google Ads upload failed after maximum retry attempts…”.

Common skip / fail patterns

Messages you may see in logs or code paths:

  • no_match_data — missing click identifiers for Google
  • consent_denied / marketing consent denied
  • zero_value — nothing to upload under current value mode
  • not connected / disabled — routing or OAuth off
  • Retry exhausted after ~10 attempts (30 min base, 6 h max delay)

Order status → upload / retract

Google Ads uses order-status action mapping (upload / retract / restate). Terminal-style statuses for GAds handling include cancelled, refunded, failed, trash, voided. If refunds never retract, check the mapping and refunds doc.
